Iranian director Jafar Pahani has been imprisoned for 6 years and ‘silenced’ for 20.<\/p>\n Best known for films such as The Circle<\/a> (2000), Crimson Gold<\/a> (2003) and Offside<\/a> (2006), he was a supporter of opposition leader Mirhossein Mousavi<\/a> in last year’s disputed presidential election<\/a> in June 2009 and was arrested a month later.<\/p>\n After being released he showed public support for the Iranian Green Movement<\/a> at the Montreal Film Festival, as chairman of the jury, in September 2009:<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
