The Hurt Locker<\/a><\/strong> is a new film which tells the story of a United States Army bomb squad in Baghdad<\/a> during the Iraq War<\/a> during 2004.<\/p>\n The script was written by Mark Boal<\/a>, based on his experiences as a embedded journalist in Iraq and directed by Kathryn Bigelow<\/a>.<\/p>\n It stars Jeremy Renner<\/a> as the team leader of an Explosive Ordnance Disposal<\/a> (EOD) unit and Anthony Mackie<\/a> and Brian Geraghty<\/a> as the troops assigned to cover him whilst he defuses the bombs that litter the city.<\/p>\n Ralph Fiennes<\/a>, Guy Pearce<\/a> and David Morse<\/a> all feature in key supporting roles and the film was shot by cinematographer Barry Ackroyd<\/a>, who also worked on United 93<\/a> and various Ken Loach<\/a> films over the years.<\/p>\n After premi\u00e8ring at the Venice film festival last September<\/a> the film has achieved enormous critical acclaim<\/a> and is a likely contender at the Oscars next year.<\/p>\n I recently spoke to Kathryn Bigelow<\/strong> and Mark Boal<\/strong> in London about the film and you can listen to the interview here:<\/p>\n[audio:http:\/\/filmdetail.receptionmedia.com\/Kathryn_Bigelow_and_Mark_Boal_on_The_Hurt_Locker.mp3]\n You can download this\u00a0interview\u00a0as a podcast via iTunes by\u00a0clicking here<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
